Obituary for William Alexander "Mickey" Pothier

William Alexander "Mickey" Pothier
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mickey Pothier, loving husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Brush) Pothier, announces his passing which occurred on January 4, 2017 at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing with his family by his side. Born on August 15, 1925 in Yarmouth, NS he was a son to the late Alexander and Julia (Thurston) Pothier.

Mickey served in the Merchant Navy in WWII from 1941-1945. He worked as an engineer with the Coast Guard for more than 30 years, on top of that, he was a general handy man, and took pleasure in completing odd jobs and helping with things around the Church. In his younger years, Mickey enjoyed being active, he played baseball, hockey and enjoyed skating with his grandchildren. Above all, he relished in the time spent sitting in his yard with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Mickey will be lovingly remembered by his son Raymond (Donna) Pothier, his daughters: Darlene (Ronald) Hadland, Diana (Emery) Richard and Ramona (Calvin) Johnson, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and members of his extended family.

Besides his parents and wife of 67 years, Mary, Mickey was predeceased by his son Harry Pothier, brother Stan Pothier, sisters Pauline Donley and Shirley Weisenberger.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7 and Sunday, January 8 from 2-4 and 6-8. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Trinity Church, 21 Canon Street, on Monday, January 9 at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
