Condolences

Condolence From: Capt. James SC Hood
Condolence: I got to know Martyn whilst performing my marine examinations at the Yarmouth Ship Safety Office. He was my examiner for my Master Mariner orals. Martyn was a fair examiner who challenged but respected the candidate. I enjoyed listening to him spin a yarn or two of his early days plying the coastal waters of the UK, North Sea and English Channel on Merchant Freightors.
My sincerest condolences to his family.

Condolence From: Jim and Esta Brock
Condolence: Our deepest sympathy to you Sandi and to Robyn and Family. Martyn was a true gentleman and friend. We first met in 1984 when Martyn came to Ottawa to work for Transport Canada. Esta and I have happy memories of our visits to your home in Munster and I also treasure my visit to your home in Yarmouth [even with the mosquitoes],

Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Condolence From: ian lawrence
Condolence: I believe I speak for many in the marine industries in the Annapolis/Digby area, whose paths crossed Martyn's over the years, in expressing sadness at his passing. Beginning in the 1980s, Martyn was the steamboat inspector who oversaw the number of wooden vessels being constructed on the Bay of Fundy shore at that time. Always professional, always reasonable in his requirements of us, and always courteous, he was a pleasure to do business with. He set a standard still remembered by many. He will be missed.

Condolence: Dear Sandi,Robyn and family,
We were so very sorry to hear of Martyns' passing. He was a most intelligent, kind man who will be missed by all who knew him. He fought a hard battle with a horrible disease. Take comfort in the fact that you gave your all as a family to care and comfort him until the end. You could not have done more. May he rest in peace.

Condolence: Sandi and family...I was heartbroken to hear of Martyn's passing. He was such a wonderful person.
I always looked forward to his visits in the Bank before I retired from BMO. Always enjoyed running into him when he was walking home for lunch or he was out walking the dog.
I no longer live in Yarmouth so I had no idea he had been diagnosed with ALS.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family during this time of great sorrow.

Was a great person and he always had a good sense of humor.

Condolence From: Ensor McNeill
Condolence: My very sincere sympathies to you, Martyn's family on his passing. I knew Martyn since I started with Marine Safety back in 2001. I spoke to Martyn often on the phone about work issues and worked with him briefly while I helped out in the Yarmouth office. He was always helpful and friendly with me and we always ended our calls by sharing a laugh or two over work or life situations. I share in your sorrow.
